Trinity Mirror number-crunchers tip Chelsea to win league

Chelsea will win the Premier League by seven clear points this season according to a statistical analysis by Trinity Mirror’s data unit.

The publisher’s team of number-crunchers produced a projected table which shows Joe Mourinho’s men with 89 points compared to 82 for Manchester City in second place and 79 for Liverpool in third.

It predicts a seventh-place finish for David Moyes’ Manchester United, and relegation for West Brom, Cardiff City and Fulham.

As well as being the most-read story on Mirror Sport, this week, it has also produced stories for the Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News.

The projected table analyses who each team has left to play in the league, and then compares that to how they have previously performed against teams of the same calibre this season.

By breaking the league down into five bands, the data unit calculated how many points, on average, each team gets against teams from each band.

This showed, for instance, that Chelsea averaged 2.5 points against other top four clubs compared to City’s 1.5, Arsenal’s 1 and Liverpool’s 0.75.

The averages for each team were then cross-referenced against their remaining fixtures to produce the final points tally.

It would be interesting to know how much it costs Trinity Mirror to run this team of number crunchers – who every week appear to come up with yet another batch of pointless non-stories. Not exactly breathtaking journalism is it?

Hahahahaha, i realy think what the mirror has crunched is baseless; more or less it needs to compare the tenacity and fluency of the first- three teams currently……(( Liverpool is likely—98% to win the BPL )) YNWA! !!!!
