Thousands join publisher’s airwaves’ revolution

A multi-media regional group is pulling in thousands more people through the airwaves, new figures reveal.

The kmfm arm of the Kent Messenger publishing stable has added 21,400 listeners to its radio station.

It means a total of more than 170,000 adults across the county are now listening each week, according to industry body RAJAR.

The biggest increase was among 15 to 44-year-olds, with audience figures up by more than a quarter in this category.

The figures come on the back of a series of high-profile promotions plus a new breakfast show hosted by Garry Wilson and Emma Adam.

News emerged last week from Ofcom that the 16-title KM Group has also teamed up with the University of Kent to win a two-horse race for a local television licence serving Maidstone and Tonbridge.
