Rival newspapers go head to head in pancake race

Reading Post team (from left) Gemma Davidson, Natasha Adkins, Jonathan Low and Caroline Cook celebrate victory

Two rival newspapers went head to head yesterday – but this time it wasn’t a circulation battle.

Instead the Reading Post squared up against their rivals from the Reading Chronicle in a charity pancake race.

The two teams were drawn against eachother in the first round of the annual event yesterday, with the Post team claiming local bragging rights as they ‘battered’ the opposition.

But they were beaten in the second round by the Broad Street Mall shopping centre before Specsavers went on the win the competition for the third year in a row.

Post editor Andy Murrill said: “The pressure was on when we were drawn against the Chron but we flipping well showed them who’s boss.

“Months of training and dedication from our team paid off on the day.”
