A regional newspaper has launched a new daily email newsletter to tell readers about its latest stories.
The Express & Star has created the newsletter which will be sent out at 9.30am each weekday morning with links to the latest news, sport and business stories on its website.
The free email newsletter will also contain the paper’s front and back pages from its first edition.
It has been launched after the paper’s website celebrated its best ever month in January, reaching 11m hits for the first time, and also exceeding 30,000 followers on Twitter.
Internet editor Todd Nash told readers: “In recent years we have greatly expanded our online following on Twitter and Facebook but we know that, for many people, you can’t beat the convenience of an email.
“With our new daily newsletter, you can get an overview of the big stories of the day, every day, to read at your leisure. Whether in the office or on the move, the Express & Star will keep you up-to-speed on the news you need to know.”
Firstly, the word ‘hits’ has been misused as per usual.
Secondly, an email newsletter to readers? Really?! Wow, that’s an innovative and pioneering idea that’s only about five years behind most other newspapers.

…and being five years behind a newspaper website means you’re over a decade behind everyone else.
