Record entry for Midlands Media Awards

Organisers have revealed a record 320 entries have been submitted for the Midlands Media Awards – with 29 journalists competing for the feature writer of the year prize alone.

Now in their thirteenth year, the awards celebrate the achievements of journalists and photographers working for the region’s newspapers, magazines and digital platforms, as well as television and radio.

Chairman Ed James said: “At a time when the media generally is undergoing considerable change, such a positive response to the awards clearly shows that quality journalism in the Midlands is very much alive.”

A short-list will be drawn up and published at the beginning of May.

The event is run by Birmingham Press Club. The black-tie ceremony will take place Villa Park’s Holte Suite on 5 June.
