Press photographer turned TV cameraman dies aged 84

A former weekly photographer who went on to become a BBC cameraman has died.

Denis Jory, pictured, became well known for his work at the Falmouth Packet during the 1970s, as a freelance photographer mainly attached to the Helston office.

He later transferred into film as a BBC cameraman, and was known for his quality work both in still and moving footage.

Denis passed away last month aged 84. His funeral took place at Treswithian Downs Crematorium, Camborne.

Born in Helston, Cornwall, Denis lived in Porthleven for a time, before moving to Sennen.

He is survived by his widow Glynis and the couple’s daughter, Sanara.
