Press club’s date with Ashes-winning batsman

Birmingham Press Club has signed up Ashes-winning batsman Jonathan Trott as the guest at its next celebrity luncheon.

The Warwickshire ace, who left England’s tour of Australia last November because of a “stress-related condition” will talk about his experiences at Friday’s gathering at Birmingham’s Opus Restaurant.

Press Club chairman Ed James commented: “Jonathan lives in Birmingham and is passionate about the city. It’s a privilege to have secured him as a guest speaker, especially as this will be the first time he will have spoken to a Birmingham audience since his departure from Test cricket last year.”

Tickets for the lunch, which will support two of Jonathan’s local charities, Cure Leukaemia and the Tiny Babies Big Appeal, are priced at £85 plus £17 VAT and are available from [email protected]
