Mirror move sparks reshuffle at regional press body

A regional press body has appointed a new chairman after the previous postholder was poached by a national daily.

Earlier this year Yorkshire Post political editor Jack Blanchard was named chairman of the Newspaper Conference which represents London-based correspondents of regional newspapers.

But Jack is now leaving the YP to join the political team at the Daily Mirror.

Into his shoes steps Eastern Daily Press political editor Annabelle Dickson, previously the conference deputy chairman.

Said Annabelle: “I am looking forward to representing the interests of the local press industry in Westminster and continuing to make the case for better access to politicians for regional journalists.”

Annabelle joined the EDP as a trainee in 2008, where she was the deputy chief reporter in King’s Lynn and latterly the business writer.

She returned to the Archant-owned title as political editor in March 2013, after a stint on the Press Association city desk.

The changes were agreed at an extraordinary general meeting of the conference held this week. Political correspondent for The Sunday Post James Millar was elected deputy chairman.
