Local World editor leaves to join travel firm

The editor of a Local World-owned monthly magazine which circulates in North Lincolnshire has left her role to join a travel company.

Laura Crombie has left her position as editor of the North Lincolnshire Journal to begin work as editorial manager for Thomson and First Choice in Bedfordshire.

The Journal is a companion product to the Grimsby Telegraph and is distributed directly to selected housesholds in the area.

Telegraph editor Michelle Lalor will replace Laura as Journal editor in addition to her existing role.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include:

  • Caroline Tilley, acting chief reporter of the Echo, Basildon, has left the paper to return to sister title the Colchester Gazette in the role of content editor. The new chief reporter in Basildon is Chloe Chapman.
  • Lauren Oldershaw, features writer for the Colchester Gazette, and Donna Louuse Bishop, senior reporter at the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, are both now on maternity leave.
  • Hannah Hulme has left her role as a senior news reporter with Staffordshire daily The Sentinel.
  • The Manchester Evening News has appointed Samuel Luckhurst as a sports writer and reporter, covering both Manchester clubs. Samuel was previously a sports writer for Huffington Post UK.
  • The Oxford Mail’s crime reporter Ben Wilkinson has left the paper. A replacement has yet to be appointed.
