Head of content moves on after seven years

A newsdesk chief on a regional daily has moved on after seven years in the role.

Debbie James worked her last day as head of content at the North Wales Daily Post last Friday having held the post since 2007.

In her leaving speech, Debbie said she would genuinely miss her colleagues and described it as “a privilege to do our job.”

Post editor Mark Thomas described her as a “a brilliant journalist.”

Other recent job moves in the regional press include:

  • The Nottingham Post has carried out a newsdesk reshuffle with deputy news editor Jon Robinson taking up the role of news content editor and crime correspondent Jennifer Scott promoted to the role of assistant news editor.
  • The Shropshire Star has appointed Peter Kitchen as night news editor. Peter was previously news editor at the paper.
  • Jason Collie has been appointed head of content of the Oxford Mail. He was previously assistant editor.
  • The News Shopper has appointed Jamie Micklethwaite as reporter, covering Greenwich and Lewisham. Jamie was previously a freelance journalist and has also worked for The Argus in Brighton.
  • Express & Star news editor Helen Brown has gone on maternity leave until January 2016. Meanwhile reporter Richard Guttridge is joining the paper from the Burton Mail.
