Former business editor sells PR firm for five-figure sum

A PR company set up by a former daily business editor has been bought by a rival firm for an undisclosed five-figure sum.

McAllister Media was set up in Inverness by Bill McAllister, a former business editor at the Press & Journal, but he has now sold the company to Frasermedia, which is based in Aberdeen.

Frasermedia was launched in 2007 by former broadcast journalist and television newsreader Pauline Cook and the acquisition will allow it to expand into the Highlands.

Following the deal, Bill has joined Frasermedia as PR account director and his client list, which includes Highlands businesses such as Tulloch Homes, moves over to the media company.

Pauline, who is the managing director of Frasermedia, said: “This acquisition gives us a superb platform to launch into the Highlands and grow our contacts in the North.

“Bill is an extremely well respected journalist and well-connected businessman with an impressive client list and his skills and knowledge will be invaluable for our expansion to Inverness.”

Bill added: “This is an ideal fit for me at this stage of my career. I’m very pleased to have joined such a fast-growing agency, which offers both me and my clients excellent additional support and synergy. I hope to use my contacts and experience to give Frasermedia a firm foothold in the Highlands and trigger further expansion.

“Looking to the future, my goal is to eventually scale down my activities over the next few years — but right now I’m relishing this new challenge and opportunity.”

Frasermedia now has a team of seven, six of who are based at its Aberdeen headquarters, while its Inverness operation will be managed from an office in the city’s Corrie Lodge.
