Former business editor launches new web venture

The ex-business editor of two of Johnston Press’ flagship Scottish titles has launched his own company.

Terry Murden, formerly of The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, has registered Daily Business Ltd, which he says will be a news website focused on the business, consumer and money markets.

A blog, pictured below, and Twitter account have been set up to support the venture, which Terry says has attracted interest from several potential backers.

Terry resigned from his post at the JP titles earlier this year after being found guilty of stalking his former girlfriend, a conviction he is currently appealing.

Discussing the new business, he said: “I have been thinking about this for a long time.

“I feel the climate and appetite exists for something like this and I’m very excited about its potential.

“I will release further news in due course.”

The award-winning reporter was fined £500 and handed a three-year non-harassment order at Edinburgh Sheriff Court following his conviction.

He had denied causing PR consultant Nicki Sturzaker fear and alarm by going to her flat uninvited, leaving unwanted gifts and notes, contacting her employers and writing about her.
