Entries open for best farming journalism award

An awards scheme which aims to find the best farming and rural affairs journalism in regional newspapers has opened for entries.

The Stuart Seaton Award is run by the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists to recognise consistently high-quality reporting by the regional press on rural issues

The search is now on for the best coverage provided in 2013 after the Press & Journal took last year’s award for its daily coverage of farming issues and its 16-page weekly supplement.

Other recent winners include The Farmer, published by Shropshire Newspapers and edited by Heather Jones, and Western Morning News for its regular farming pages written by agriculture editor Peter Hall before his retirement at the end of last year.

Entries can be made by the farming/rural affairs correspondent or the newspaper editor by submitting PDFs of published pages from four consecutive editions.

The deadline for entries is 28 February.
