Daily city editor leaves paper to join TUC

The city editor of Glasgow daily The Herald is leaving the paper this month to join the Trades Union Congress.

Tim Sharp is to take up a role as policy advisor in the economics and social affairs department at the TUC.

Meanwhile sister Newsquest title the Oxford Mail has appointed Peter Truman as assistant news editor.

Peter joins the paper from the role of web editor at The Argus, Brighton, and is also a former chief reporter at the Croydon Guardian.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include the following:

  • Senior reporter Helen Barnett has taken on the crime reporter’s role at The Echo, Southend.
  • Rachel Parry has joined Sheffield daily The Star as a senior reporter having previously worked at Lucre PR.
  • The Littlehampton Gazette has promoted Tom Cotterill to the role of chief reporter.
  • Lauren Wafer-Kiddle has joined the Halifax Courier as a reporter.
  • The Rugby Advertiser has taken on Joanna Hunt as a trainee reporter.
