Church PR role for former PA reporter

The Church of England has hired a long-standing Press Association reporter as its new senior media officer.

Martha Linden, a former parliamentary correspondent for a number of regional titles, had worked at PA for 16 years, specialising in religious affairs coverage for part of that time.

Her work with PA included organising the agency’s coverage of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to England in 2010.

In her new role, Martha will focus on the CofE’s work on parliamentary and public affairs and domestic policy, ranging from banking reform and food banks to medical ethics.   She will also be working on media for the Church Urban Fund, a Church of England charity dedicated to tackling poverty.

Said Martha:  “Having covered Church of England news for many years I am acutely aware of the critical role the Church plays in society, its dedicated service and the way that service is often offered in unsung ways.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to tell the stories of transformation brought about by the Church of England through its members, ministers and supporters throughout the country.”
