Award-winning business editor joins law firm

An award-winning business journalist on a Scottish daily has left to take up a new marketing role with a law firm.

Ryan Crighton, business editor at the Press and Journal, Aberdeen, is to become director of marketing at Granite City legal partnership Aberdein Considine.

Said Ryan: “I worked through a period of enormous change in the media industry, with digital platforms growing in significance. The approach across print, broadcast and web platforms has adapted and evolved but the principles of good communication remain consistent.”

Ryan was Scotland Business and Financial Journalist of the Year 2014 and also Scotland’s Young Journalist of the Year in 2008.

Other recent regional press job moves include:

  • Graham Henry is stepping down as Senedd correspondent with Wales Online and its sister print titles the Western Mail, South Wales Echo and Wales on Sunday. He will be joining NUS Wales in a public affairs role.
  • Daniel Milligan is leaving the Somerset County Gazette to become live blog editor at Newcastle daily The Chronicle.  Danielle Morris will now be covering all Chard and Ilminster stories at the Gazette while Hollie Borland will be covering West Somerset news.
  • Newsquest Wiltshire and Oxfordshire has appointed Bruno Clements as social media and web editor covering the Swindon Advertiser, Gazette & Herald and Wiltshire Times.  Bruno, who was previously web co-ordinator, replaces Craig Lyus in the role.
  • Bill Bain, previously editor of the Irvine Times, has moved to Glasgow daily The Herald as group senior production journalist.
  • The Hereford Times has appointed Rebecca Cain as senior reporter. Rebecca previously held the same role at the Bucks Free Press.
  • North Wales Chronicle reporter Geraint Jones is leaving the paper to join its sister title The Leader. He wil be replaced at the Chronicle by Mike Williams, previously a reporter at the North Wales Pioneer.
  • The Mid Sussex Times has appointed Olivia Lerche as acting chief reporter. She was previously a reporter at the Chichester Observer.
