A newspaper which was named the top weekly twice in the last year has now won three more prizes in its company awards scheme.

The Northern Scot has won the newspaper of the year title in an awards scheme held by publisher Scottish Provincial Press, which was held for its 13 titles.

Deputy editor Chris Saunderson was named reporter of the year, while Eric Cormack scooped the photographer of the year award.

The latest awards come after the Elgin-based title, which is edited by Mike Collins, won weekly of the year at the Scottish Press Awards and also clinched the same title in its circulation category at the Regional Press Awards.
