Regional daily to hold weekly Q&A live blogs

A regional daily has launched a new weekly Q&A live blog to boost engagement with its readers.

The North Wales Daily Post will hold its first “Ask the Expert” session this lunchtime when editor Alison Gow will take questions from readers about how the paper is put together.

The paper has lined up a series of experts on topics such as flooding, nutrition and finance for the weekly feature, which will take place every Tuesday from 12-1pm.

It comes after the Daily Post was one of two Trinity Mirror titles, along with the Manchester Evening News, to launch a live blog on its homepage, which is updated throughout the day.

Social media editor Antonia Jones said: “It is just really to engage with our readers. We use social media quite a lot now so it is a way of getting people onto the website and them getting something out of it.

“Alison is kicking it off. We wanted her to test it out first as it is new. Once people see it is up and running, they will want to take part.”

Each Q & A will be written up for the following day’s paper and readers will send in their questions in advance via Twitter or directly on the blog.

The title has experts lined up until the middle of February so far.
