Regional dailies sign up Bucks Fizz for charity press ball

Three of the original members of Eurovision winners Bucks Fizz are to take the stage at a charity press ball being organised by a group of Norfolk newspapers.

The Eastern Daily Press, Norwich Evening News and its sister titles will stage the inaugural Norfolk and Norwich Press Ball at Norfolk Showground on November 8.

Original Bucks Fizz members Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston will be entertaining ball-goers with all the band’s hits including, of course, the Eurovision Song Contest winner Making Your Mind Up.

Eastern Daily Press editor Nigel Pickover said: “This fabulous evening will be one of the big nights of Norfolk’s year and will live long in the memory of those who attend.

“Our band, Bucks Fizz, promises a magical set of their smash hits from yesteryear. I can’t wait to celebrate our great county and fine city on such an exhilarating night.”

Mike, Cheryl & Jay are not Bucks Fizz. They lost the legal right to use or perform under that name.

Your commentary suggests it is “Mike, Cheryl & Jay – formerly of Bucks Fizz” that will be performing, which is the stage name they have been using recently.

However, Nigel Pickover’s commentary states that it is “Bucks Fizz” – which is Bobby G, Heidi Manton, Tammy Choat, & Paul Yates. See the official site at bucksfizz.co.uk

You need to clear up your confusion so fans are not disappointed in turning up for the wrong group.
