Police scale back search for missing reporter

Police have scaled back a search for a missing weekly newspaper journalist whose car was found in a remote area of the Scottish Highlands.

Clive Dennier, left, of the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald, was reported missing when he failed to go into work last Monday morning and police launched a search for him.

Last Friday, his VW Polo was found in the remote Knoydart area west of Invergarry, resulting in organised searches of the area by police, mountain rescue teams, the coastguard and the Skywatch charity.

But police have now said that searches for the journalist have currently stopped, although their enquiries into his disappearance are continuing.

A spokeswoman for the Northern Constabulary said yesterday afternoon that there were no active searches for him taking place at present but they were continuing their enquiries.

She said there had been extensive searches taking place over the last few days but the area where his car was found was very large and remote.

The spokeswoman added: “Enquiries will be continuing which may identify further search areas.”

Clive, who is a keen walker, was reported missing when he failed to show up to work on 25 March.

The journalist had been with the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald for around two years and is a former news editor for the Highland edition of The Press and Journal.
