Plans for journalism masters degree scrapped

Plans for a new masters degree in Journalism with Digital Media at Cardiff University have been scrapped/

The Guardian, which was to have partnered the university in the venture, confirmed a report on the student journalism website Wannabe Hacks that the plan had been abandoned.

A spokesperson for Guardian News & Media told the site: “After extensive talks with Cardiff about the development of a potential MA journalism programme we have jointly decided that we will not be launching a Masters course.

“The Guardian is always talking to academic institutions about potential partnerships. We continue to talk to Cardiff about possible collaborations in the future.”

The course, which would have been based in London, had been due to accept its first intake of students this month.

Cardiff University declined to comment.
