Newspaper group MD stands down after 16 years

The boss of a South-East newspaper group is leaving the business after 16 years and is not being replaced.

Amanda Gee,  boss of Reading-based Berkshire Media Group, is standing down on 20 September.

The group is owned by Dunfermline-based Romanes Media, which publishes a number of weekly titles in Scotland.

Amanda’s role will not be directly replaced and in future the senior managers at Reading will report directly to Romanes group managing director Graham Morrison.

Said Amanda: “Although I will be really sad to leave the company, it feels like the right time to try something different.

“The senior management team here at BMG are very capable of driving this business forward, they are an amazing group of people and I have been very privileged to have worked with them.”

Added Graham: “I know this has been a difficult decision for Amanda but we respect and understand she wants a change.

“Amanda has been a passionate and dedicated servant of the company and has propelled the business forward at a time of significant change.

“She leaves BMG with our best wishes for the future. I look forward to working closely with the management team in place at Reading.”

Best wishes to Amanda for the future. She is one of the best people I have had the privilege to work with. I’m sure she will find a new challenge which we all need after a few years.
