A regional daily has unveiled a new-look website which gives greater prominence to entertainment and lifestyle content.
The Glasgow Evening Times has redesigned its website and shifted the balance from the old site which was dominated by hard news and sport to one which more reflects the range of content in the printed edition.
The new site is designed to be easier to navigate and includes a new homepage carousel for stories and a floating navigation bar.
A restructure of the sub-sections on the website also aims to allow areas such as fashion and video games to be found more easily.
Grant Gibson, digital innovation manager for Newsquest’s Herald and Times Group, led the team behind the new site and said there had already been a boost in the time users spent on the site.
He said: “Feedback from readers has been incredibly positive, and we’re seeing hard metrics that back up those opinions – both the time users spend on the site and the number of pages they consume has increased since the new site went live.”
