Midlands newspapers unveil new-look websites

Three Midlands newspapers have relaunched their websites with a new look this week as part of roll-outs across their companies.

The Northampton Chronicle and Echo and sister Johnston Press title the Northants Telegraph have introduced new navigation systems on their sites to help users find their way around, new what’s on sections and an improved way of showing videos, while their Twitter feeds are now featured on their homepages.

Trinity Mirror regional daily the Coventry Telegraph has also unveiled its new look, which aims to have a less cluttered design.

Both companies are currently midway through a rollout of new-look websites for all their paid-for titles.

An article about the new Chronicle and Echo site said: “Every week, around 60,000 people visit our site. We have more people coming to our site on a daily basis than we used to sell daily papers. Combine that with the audience of the newspaper and our social media platforms, the Chron is now reaching more people than ever before.

“And now, after feedback from users, our site has been given a fresh new look, with new content and improvements throughout the site.”

The new-look site at the Coventry Telegraph features bigger pictures, more emphasis on new and updated articles and a new In Your Area section for each community.

Its mobile website has also been updated and a new daily email newsletter has been launched.  Like other new TM websites users will have to log-in through Facebook in order to comment.
