Local World appoints corporate development director

Regional publisher Local World has confirmed the appointment of one of its non-executive directors as its new corporate development director.

Lisa Gordon, left, a former chief operating officer at Yattendon Group which previously owned Iliffe News and Media, has joined Local World in the new executive role, which will see her remain on the group board.

In her new role, which was initially announced on 15 July, she will have responsibility for transformation, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions and marketing.

Lisa, who has been non-executive director since Local World’s creation, delivered a new management structure in her position with Yattendon Group and played a key role in the deal to create Local World, though the merger of Iliffe titles with Northcliffe Media papers.

She said: “Throughout the months putting this deal together during 2012 I believed we had an opportunity in Local World to create a regional media business with an exciting future.

“Seven months since its launch I now believe in that even more strongly and I’m delighted to be part of the team.”

Lisa previously served as non-executive director for specialist magazine publisher Future Plc during a transformational change programme and was corporate development director for Chrysalis Group Plc, where she focused on moving beyond the company’s core music business into other media.

Local World chief executive Steve Auckland said: “Lisa played an integral role in the creation of Local World and was instrumental in creating the vision for the new company.

“She will now actively be able to bring this to fruition and ensure Local World leads the transformation of the regional media industry.”
