Journalist steps up to news editor at regional daily

A regional daily has promoted one of its journalists to become news editor at the title.

Lucy Pearce, left, has become news editor at The Argus in Brighton at the age of 25, after joining the title as assistant news editor last year.

Having completed a journalism degree in 2009, Lucy went to work for the Dorset Echo and became a senior reporter there before moving to work for the South West News Service in 2011 as a features writer.

After six months at the news agency, she was promoted to news editor for Devon and Cornwall then joined The Argus in July last year.

Lucy said: “I’m very excited to be taking on the role of news editor at one of the most prestigious regional daily newspapers in the country.

“Not only is The Argus a fantastic newspaper, but its team of journalists are some of the most hard-working and brilliant people I could ever wish to work with.

“I am also thrilled to have the privilege of working in such an amazing city, and I hope I can continue to make The Argus as relevant to the people it serves as it was when it launched more than 130 years ago.”

She began her new role last week.
