Graduate journalists launch media blog for students

A team of graduate journalists have launched a new website aimed at helping students wanting to break into the media industry.

The new blog, The Media Eclectic, brings together ten recent journalism graduates who have won 14 national awards between them for their work across newspapers, television, magazines and radio.

Over the next year each of the ten bloggers will detail their successes, trials and tribulations via the medium of written blogs, video, audio and user interaction as they embark on different careers within the media business.

Contributors to the website include the founders of one of the country’s best student newspapers, two BBC journalists and countless other ex-station managers, editors, producers and presenters who are now forging a professional career in the industry.Co-founder Tom Allright, who is now a member of the BBC Production Talent Pool after a three-year period in student radio, believes current career advice is ‘out of touch, impersonal and fundamentally useless’ and says the blog will ‘tell it like it is’.
