A magazine editor whose job was put at risk after a series of monthly titles were mothballed by Archant has been given a new role in charge of its wedding publications.
The regional publisher recently suspended publication of its lifestyle magazines Herefordshire and Wye Valley Life, Shropshire Life, Warwickshire Life and Worcestershire Life as well as two other titles.
However the editor of the four magazines, Joanne Goodwin, left, has now been moved to a new role as editorial director for Archant Lifestyle’s Weddings division.
Joanne’s was one of the 19 jobs which had been at risk as a result of the decison to suspend the four titles along with Wiltshire Life and North East Life.
Her new portfolio will include 13 regional magazines under the ‘Bride’ marque.
A consultation is still ongoing with other staff affected by the decision to suspend the four Life titles, including two journalists who job-share an assistant editor role.
Mike Sherrard, managing director for Exhibitions & Weddings, said: “The weddings business is growing at a fast pace and its content and editorial provision is core to this growth as we expand into more channels.
“With a wide range of channels we can distribute the content we create more effectively for ourselves, our customers and our advertisers.
“This year we will publish 13 regional Bride magazines, put on 10 events and multiple fayres. We have already relaunched our websites, started communication through newsletters and begun developing apps for this sector.
“This range of channels requires leadership to ensure we generate the right content for the right medium. This will help us to enable Archant’s mission to be realised – bringing together motivated buyers and sellers in the communities we serve through compelling content. Joanne will help us deliver this.”
