Editor fires starting pistol as deputy runs half marathon

The editor of a weekly paper fired the starting pistol to kick-off a half marathon in which 11,000 people – including her own deputy – took part.

Lynne Fernquest, who leads the Bath Chronicle, started the Bath Half Marathon in the city and journalists from the paper were among the runners at the event.

Deputy editor Paul Wiltshire completed the 13-mile course in two hours and 16 minutes and chief sub Graham Holburn took one hour and 53 minutes, while advertising sales executive Martin Schofield beat them with a time of one hour and 23 minutes.

Photographers and journalists from the paper provided live coverage of the half marathon, uploading photo galleries and video footage of the race and an interview with celebrity runners X-Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary and Radio One DJ Greg James.

Following the race, the Chronicle has put together a 40-page supplement dedicated to the half marathon with all of the race’s results, photos and stories.
