Digital boss steps up to content director

The former boss of a regional publisher’s digital arm has been put in overall editorial charge of a series of print titles.

Iliffe News and Media’s daily and weekly titles were transferred to the ownership of Local World earlier this month as part of the company’s merger with Northcliffe Media.

The newspapers, which include the Cambridge News and Burton Mail, will continue to operate as a separate division of Local World, headed by executive director Mike Richardson.

Now Mike has appointed Andy Gough to the new position of content director across the division, with all editors reporting directly to him.

Prior to the merger Andy was managing director of Iliffe Digital Media, having also previously been MD of the Cambridge News.

He has also worked for Northcliffe in the past, as regional managing director of Westcountry Publications Ltd, overseeing the company’s operations in Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay.

Andy, who will continue to be based in Cambridge, will take charge of all editorial and content development matters across the division’s newspapers and websites.

Also appointed to Mike’s senior management team is commercial director Ricky Allan, who will take responsibility for all revenue and commercial activity across the division.

The overall management structure of Local World was unveiled by group chief executive Steve Auckland earlier this month.

There will be three publishing divisions, one made up of the former Iliffe titles and two comprising former Northcliffe-owned newspapers.

Well done Andy. Everyone recalls his memorable contribution to the Plymouth business. Will be great to see him meeting up with old Northcliffe colleagues again.
