Bournemouth to host annual skills conference

This year’s Journalism Skills Conference is to take place in Bournemouth on 27/28 November, the National Council for the Training of Journalists has announced.

The Dorset town is home to two of the NCTJ’s accredited-course providers: Bournemouth University and Up to Speed Media, as well as daily newspaper the Bournemouth Echo.

The conference is designed to provide an opportunity to debate the latest issues associated journalism training.

In previous years the conference has visited Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and Nottingham.

Announcing the venue, the NCTJ said: “There is a great commitment to quality journalism training in the area with Bournemouth University’s BA honours in multimedia journalism being the first undergraduate course to be accredited by the NCTJ in 1995.

“Up to Speed Media, an independent provider, also offers an established fast-track journalism course and is one of only two centres in the UK to run an NCTJ-accredited photojournalism course.”
