Yorkshire daily aims to make job hunting easier

A regional daily newspaper has launched an initiative aimed at making it easier for people to find a job by offering businesses the chance to advertise on more platforms, including mobile phones.

The Yorkshire Evening Post says that finding the right people to fill the job vacancies advertised in the paper has become a priority and placing a small ad in the classified section just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore.

Through the initiative launched this month the paper aims to get job adverts seen by more would-be recruits via an offer which will see a recruitment ad placed in ten different media platforms for a set price.

Editor Paul Napier said: “Even in challenging economic times such as these, when there are more people in the jobs market than there have been for a number of years, it can be difficult for employers to find the right candidate to fill a vacancy.

“The Yorkshire Evening Post in all its various forms is a great way for those with jobs to offer to make sure they’re seen by as many potential employees as possible.”

The ads will be seen an on websites, social media outlets, via email and on mobiles which means that more people will see what is on offer.

Tracey Ball, divisional recruitment manager, said: “Here at the Yorkshire Evening Post we are in a unique position to offer both active job seekers, through our various recruitment platforms, as well as high quality browsing candidates, which standard job boards are unable to deliver.”
