Prime Minister tours regional daily newsroom

Prime Minister David Cameron took time out from a busy week at Westminster to pay a flying visit to a Midlands newsroom.

Fresh from reshuffling his Cabienet, Mr Cameron dropped into BPM Media’s Birmingham headquarters to meet staff from the Birmingham Post and Mail titles.

The Prime Minister, who was isiting the city to open a new college, spent half an hour at the newspapers’ Fort Dunlop offices where he had a briefing with Mail editor Dave Brookes and Post editor Alun Thorne.

He also carried out an interview with political editor Jon Walker before embarking on a tour of the newsroom.

It is the first time that Mr Cameron has visited the offices of BPM Media as Prime Minister, having previously met staff in 2009 when he was still Leader of the Opposition.

Said Alun: “We only found out at short notice that the Prime Minister was in town so we were delighted to welcome him to BPM Media and have the opportunity not only to talk to him about the challenges facing the city but also secure an exclusive interview during such an exceptionally busy period for him following the recent reshuffle.”
