Parky to speak at NCTJ conference

Sir Michael Parkinson has been announced as the after-dinner speaker at an annual conference run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

The television presenter, who is best known for his long-running Parkinson talk show, will speak at the Journalism Skills Conference which takes place in Nottingham from 28-29 November.

He began his career as a local press journalist and moved to being a features writer for the Daily Express and Manchester Guardian before joining the BBC.

The conference brings together decision-makers in journalism from the education, training and industry sectors will cover topical issues such as new technologies and ethics.

The gala dinner will also incorporate an awards ceremony celebrating the top-performing course, students and trainee journalists from the last year.
