Nigerian community newspaper launched in London

The first issue of a new free monthly newspaper aimed at London’s Nigerian community has hit the streets in the capital.

Nigerian Watch is available from over 100 outlets across London and will also be handed out at key locations.

It will aim to connect news about what is happening with Nigeria with that of ex-pat Nigerians in the UK.

The launch issue include an article on a row over air fares row between the Nigerian government and British Airways and the news that Nigerian Idol auditions will be coming to London later this year.

Maryanne Jemide, managing director of publisher Green World Media said: “Our first issue contains an eclectic mix of stories about events here and back home in Nigeria.

“Our editorial focus on Nigeria’s position on the world stage, its people and its contribution to British society, is set to make Nigerian Watch a must-read for UK Nigerians, their descendants and others affiliated with the country through business or personal relationships.

“With over 100 distribution points and manual distribution teams already in place, we are adding further locations each day to ensure as wide a reach as possible.”

The Nigerian Watch website, www.nigerianwatch.com, will host the digital edition of the paper along with daily and exclusive content.
