A regional newspaper in the Midlands has teamed up with a building society in a competition which will see one reader receiving enough money to pay for their mortgage for a year.
The Sentinel, based in Stoke, has teamed up with the Hanley Economic Building Society to launch ‘win your mortgage paid for a year’, which will see one reader receive £4,000 over a period of 12 months.
To be in with a chance of winning the cash, which includes two runner up prizes of £2,000, readers need to collect numbered token from the paper, up until 1 March.
The promotion has secured £10,000 of revenue for The Sentinel.

So that’s £333.33 a month. Blimey, house prices must be cheap in Stoke. Maybe the comp should say ‘win money towards your mortgage for a year’
A £120,000 mortgage, repayment, at a rate of 4% is £899 a month!!!

Spot on Freddie – I wish £4,000 would cover my mortgage for a year – alas I would need at least three times that!

In Stoke, the vast majority of houses are Band A for Council Tax and so this sounds about right to me. My mortgage is £333 so £4k would do nicely. Great competition and just what regional papers should be doing.
