Journalist turned Hollywood writer begins book tour

An author who started her career as an obituary writer on a local newspaper in Devon and went on to become a Hollywood screenwriter has returned to the UK to promote her new books.

Laura Dennison, who writes as Hannah Dennison, is originally from Basingstoke but now lives in Los Angeles writing mysteries set in England.

Early on in her career she worked on the Tiverton Gazette in Devon in 1977 writing obituaries.

She has also been a flight attendant, Hollywood studio executive and did a five-day stint in the navy.

Her latest books form part of a set called The Vicky Hill Mysteries. A Vicky Hill Exclusive! and Scoop! which chronicle the adventures of an aspiring investigative journalist will be published in the UK this year and Laura, 54, is currently on a book tour promoting them.

Said Laura: “I drew from my own experience as a reporter when penning the books.”

Laura was crowned carnival queen in Basingstoke in 1974 when she won a kiss off Rick Parfitt from Staus Quo. She recently returned to her hometown for a book signing.

Following her job on the Devon newspaper Laura started screenwriting in 1990 before moving to Los Angeles in 1993 to become a screenwriter in Hollywood.

She had her first novel published in 2008 in America. For more information log onto http://www.hannahdennison.com.
