Search engine giant Google is to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Journalikm Skills Conference, the National Council for the Training of Journalists has announced.

The annual conference takes place at Nottingham Trent University on 28-29 November and will cover issues such as new technology, tools and media platforms associated with developing professional journalists across all sectors.

Stephen Rosenthal, Google’s UK communications manager said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the NCTJ and are looking forward to sharing some ideas on technology that can help the next generation of journalists make the most of the tools available to them.”

NCTJ chief executive Joanne Butcher added: “We are thrilled that Google is demonstrating its commitment to quality journalism by supporting our conference.

“Digital skills and understanding the newest technologies are key competencies for today’s journalists and with Google’s help we will be looking at some of the latest developments.”
