A former journalism student has secured her dream job as a sub-editor for a newspaper in the Maldives.

Georgina Green, a graduate from the BA Journalism course at Northumbria University, has started working as a sub-editor for the Maldivian Daily.

She was appointed to the position after gaining experience as a trainee reporter with the Daily Mirror, The Sunday People and on the press team at London 2012 Olympics.

In her new role for the national newspaper, Georgina has met the presidents of various countries and reviewed luxury resorts.

She said: “Throughout my time at Northumbria, I learnt various key skills that have enabled me to be where I am today.”
