Entries open for Highlands media awards

An annual media awards which aims to recognise the best journalism in the most northerly parts of Scotland has opened for entries.

The Highlands and Islands Media Awards is inviting entries from journalists in 13 categories, which include the best young journalist, top story, best use of digital media and newspaper of the year.

The awards will be presented at the Silver Jubilee Press Ball, which will take place in Inverness on 1 February next year.

At the last awards, the Highland News was named the top newspaper and Press and Journal reporter Donna McAllister was named as Journalist of the Year, while also winning the Jim Love Memorial Trophy for the top reporter.
