Budding journalists to attend NCTJ courses after grants won

Five budding journalists have been awarded bursaries by the Journalism Diversity Fund to allow them to attend courses.

The fund is run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists to help people from socially and ethically diverse backgrounds to get into journalism.

Bursaries have now been awarded to Nadya Ahmed, Jonathan Cronshaw, Khaleda Rahman, Sophie Mei Lan Slack and Richard Wilson, who will study NCTJ-accredited courses at Nottingham Trent University, Leeds Trinity University College, News Associates London, University of Salford and Lambeth College.

They were chosen after interviews with a panel which included Graham Dudman, editorial development director at News International; Laurie Tucker, day editor at Sky Sports and Bob Satchwell, executive director of the Society of Editors.

The next round of bursaries are now open for entries, with a deadline of 26 October and for further information, click here.
