Assistant editor steps up at county magazine

Regional publisher Archant has named a new editor for its monthly glossy magazine Sussex Life.

Jenny Mark-Bell, pictured left, steps up from her existing role as the title’s assistant editor.

The move follows the reshuffle which saw the previous editor, Simon Irwin, move to a new role as publisher of Kent on Sunday and Kent Life.

Jenny will report to Deborah Calcutt, who joins Archant on 7 January as group editor of Sussex and Surrey Life magazines.

A graduate of Leeds University, Jenny did her postgraduate training at City College, Brighton and joined Archant as a member of the sales support team at Worthing before becoming assistant editor of Sussex Life in October 2010.

Since then she has edited the Business, Style, Health & Beauty and Equestrian sections of the magazine.

Said Simon: “We had a very strong field of candidates for the post of editor of Sussex Life and we were delighted to be able to appoint Jenny.

“She was a great assistant editor and I am sure she will be an equally successful editor.”
