TV presenter to speak of newspaper career

A former television news presenter who started her career on a local newspaper will return to the town to talk about her time on the daily title.

Ex GMTV presenter Penny Smith started her career on Johnston Press title the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

She will deliver her first-ever after dinner speech at NSPCC’s Peterborough Business Support Group’s 15th anniversary Gala Night on 10 November where she will share some of her own stories from her four and a half year in the Evening Telegraph newsroom.

Said Penny: “In depth stories weren’t really my forte and I wasn’t keen on court or police reporting but if you went to the news editor with an idea for a quirky feature you were left to get on with it.”
