Scotsman online editor to join new PR practice

The editor of The Scotsman’s website is leaving the newspaper to become a partner in a new communications practice, it was announced today.

Alan Greenwood, editor of scotsman.com for the past four years, is teaming up with former newspaper executive Stuart McGann to launch McGann Greenwood Communications.

During his time in charge of The Scotsman’s digital output during Alan has overseen the launch of the first Scottish news iPhone app, and established scotsman.com as Scotland’s most popular newspaper website, with more than 2m visitors per month.

Before joining the Johnston Press-owned title he was previously editor of the Helensburgh Advertiser and multimedia editor of the Birmingham Post.

Said Alan: “It’s been my privilege to edit scotsman.com and to work with some really talented journalists. However, the opportunity to forge a partnership with Stuart was too good to turn down.”

Stuart founded his own PR firm, McGann Media, after a newspaper career which included stints as operations director of Clyde and Forth Press Ltd and business development director of Trinity Mirror Midlands.

He said: “The growth of McGann Media has exceeded my expectations and joining forces with Alan will allow the business to expand even further.”

“We believe every business has a story to tell and an effective communications firm will get that story across simply and efficiently.”
