Schoolboy set to be future journalism star

An aspiring young reporter is to get on the job experience after winning a competition run by the National Council of Journalists.

Schoolboy Samuel Entwhistle, 15, will join editorial staff at the award winning News & Star in Cumbria for work experience in October.

The competition called Stars of the Future was held to mark the NUJ’s 60th annivarsary with the aim of uncovering new journalism talent throughout the country.

Sam, who took the prize for the Cumbria area, will get his work published in the paper after writing  a 200-word article on Radio One’s Big Weekend. A national winner for the competition is yet to be picked.
