Reporter returns after nine-month charity trip

A newspaper reporter in Scotland is to return to work after volunteering for nine months in Ghana.

Lucy Adam, former chief reporter at the Glasgow based The Herald, will return to the newspaper tomorrow following her work with Voluntary Service Overseas.

Lucy, who won of the Journalist of the Year title at the Scottish Press Awards last year, acted as an adviser to a Government Department on Advocacy and Fundraising.

With her husband Andy, she then flew to East Africa and cycled 1,750 km through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Lucy wrote a blog about her experience where she chronicles her travels in a country that has been severely affected by drought.
