Reeves to address digital editors’ gathering

Former Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves will be giving an insight into the success of  TheBusinessDesk website when he speaks at the Digital Editors Network next month.

Marc joined the business website to spearhead its new West Midlands operation after quitting his role at the Trinity Mirror owned newspaper title.

The venture has since flourished and Marc will now be sharing some of the secrets of its success with fellow DEN members.

The gathering takes place on 20 October at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Also among the speakers will be Sarah Hartley, the Guardian Media Group’s community strategist.

She will be offering delegates a glimpse of GMG’s last innovation notice.com, a community noticeboard for online and mobile. Sarah will give DEN a look behind the scenes at the site’s Beta and explain the opportunities it provides for local newspaper journalists.

Digital design specialist Grig Davidovitz will take a critical look at media websites which he believes can be over-crowded with information and displayed in dull, static templates and suggesting ways for them to display their content to better effect
