Publisher begins roll-out of new-look websites

A regional newspaper publisher has begun the roll-out of a series of new-look websites.

Northcliffe Digital has been rebuilding its thisis network of newspaper compansion sites on the same technical platform that powers the Local People network of community sites.

Three of the new sites have gone live today, namely www.thisislincolnshire, www.thisisscunthorpe and www.thisisbristol, with the other 26 due to be rolled-out next week.

In a message posted on thisislincolnshire, digital publisher Barnaby Banks said the revamp was designed to increase the amount of local content, make it easier to add comments, discussions, pictures and events, and make it easier to navigate.  Northcliffe Digital said more information on the roll-out would be available shortly.

Enormous missed opportunity. The new template is pretty but functionally useless.

Why keep pushing the directory side of the sites which has failed because the sites themselves are so poor?

    Where is the NEWS?

There is no news, Traffic Chaos, as Northcliffe has hardly any journalists left.

The space is, as the article above clearly states, filled with ‘comments and discussions’ – in other words, ill-informed rants, gossip, reader-generated illiteracy and un-subbed potential libel.
