Post Lite back in business this week

A free weekly newspaper that has been suspended since before Christmas is to resume publication this week.

Last week we reported that Trinity Mirror had suspended publication of Birmingham Post Lite, an offshoot of its paid-for weekly flagship the Birmingham Post.

The paper was originally launched last April at the height of Trinity Mirror’s battle with free newspaper entrepreneur Chris Bullivant, who was about to launch his rival Birmingham Press.

It was distributed to 18,000 homes in areas such as Solihull, Harborne and Sutton Coldfield – the same upmarket suburbs The Press had been targeting.

After six months Mr Bullivant admitted defeat and withdrew his titles from the market, but the Post Lite continued to publish up until its suspension over Christmas.

A BPM Media spokesperson told HTFP: “Having implemented a seasonal suspension to take account of lower property advertising revenues over the festive period, the Birmingham Post Lite will now return to publication this week.”

Can’t wait. Bit like Dracula coming back to life. Who is BPM intent on biting now?
