New managing editor appointed for news agency

A former news editor at Scotland on Sunday has been appointed as the managing editor at a news agency.

Peter Laing has taken up the role at Edinburgh-based multimedia news and picture agency Deadline News, which recently celebrated its first decade, after joining the company as chief reporter last October.

He has worked in Scottish media since 1992 when he joined the Edinburgh Evening News, while he has also worked for the Daily Record and was news editor for eight years at Scotland on Sunday.

Peter takes over as managing editor from Shaun Milne, who is leaving after two years following his appointment to the post of regional editor for STV Local.

Said Peter: “I’m delighted to be taking Deadline into its second decade. I look forward to building on our reputation for top-quality journalism while addressing the changing needs of the industry.

“Our talented young team are as comfortable operating a video camera and posting to our website as they are wielding pens and still cameras.”
